Introductions/Formal or Casual!

As a bandleader I tend to like to know the mood or vibe the bride and groom are trying to create with their wedding. One thing I discuss with the couples is their introduction into the main ballroom. Most couples that are looking for a traditional wedding really enjoy having a dramatic entrance into the room with a formal introduction. An example of that introduction would be having the band announce something similar to "Ladies and gentleman kindly focus your attention to the entrance of the ballroom and join me in welcoming for the first time as husband and wife Mr. and Mrs. Jason Huckabee." Then the band or your DJ would then play your first dance and following that invite others up onto the dance floor. Most couples love being introduced as Mr. and Mrs., others prefer first names. There are couples who totally forego the introductions altogether and opt to just be in the room, entering with their guests and just casually coming up to the dance floor for a first dance. Some couples prefer to have no intro at all and also save the first dance until after the first course or later in the party. Usually these couples just will come into the party with a gusto and join their friends dancing, waiting later for an official first dance.

Wording for other introductions have been: "Please joining me in welcoming your bride and groom Justin and Kelly", "Let's all join together to start the party with a wild dance celebrating with our bride and groom Bill and Lucy." " Ladies and gentleman please rise and put your hands together for the newlywed Mr. and Mrs. Constantine Agresta." These are suggestions merely to set a tone. I don't brainstorm with clients the exact wording to their introduction but rather get a feel for the approach they are going for with their wedding and introduce accordingly.
